In 2005, Liz Liebeskind moved her family from lower Manhattan to Hastings-on-Hudson. She arrived in her new community with a grant to produce a puppet festival she had created for Washington Market Park in Tribeca. Initially, she partnered with the local Parent Teacher Association for the Popcorn & Puppet Festival in beautiful MacEachron Park. Next, with the support of the Hastings-on-Hudson Parks and Recreation Department and several local residents she developed the Take Me To The River Music Festival. After the success of numerous events that show cased local talent as well as talent from surrounding areas it was suggested by her friend Niki Armacost that they organize a not for profit to help support the rich talent within the Hastings community. 12 Milesnorth LTD was professionally founded in 2009 by Liz Liebeskind, Niki Armacost and Barbara Prisament.

12 Milesnorth is a progressive arts organization whose aim is to support innovative, honest art that explores new paths and meanders down some old favorite ones. It relies on the numerous talents of many local artists, musicians and performers to maintain its integrity. As a progressive arts organization, 12MN strives to balance creativity with responsibility. We hope to maintain high standards through performance, education and new media. We support artists of any age and any genre that expand and stretch our imagination. We value our audience and understand with all the entertainment choices available today if you choose to see our events, productions or installations it better be worth your time. We like interaction between audience and artist at all of our events hoping to deepen our sense of community. Through performance, education, and new media we welcome, encourage, and celebrate different arts, ideas, and audiences.
